The UK ASA Bans a “Misleading” Ad for Bet365
The United Kingdom ASA has banned a commercial that aired on television and online that belongs to one of the biggest gambling operators in the United Kingdom and the world. This ad was dedicated to the horse racing activity of the company and it aired on Channel 4.
According to the TV ad, players can back any winner at 4 to 1 or more on any of the races that are shown live on the channel and the company would give them a free bet with the same stake on the upcoming live race. The text on the screen stated Free Bets while the voiceover continued and said that if the free bet is a winning one at odds of 4 to 1, players will be able to claim a free bet on the following live race. Also, a small on screen text also stated that the max free bet is equal 50 British pounds per race and the free bet winnings exclude the bet itself. The claim that the Ad is misleading was because the term free bets should mean no money involved but players would have to stake their money in order to make the free bet.
