Report Claims that Aussies Bet more and Lose more Than Other Countires
According to a report that was released by a British company, G2 Gambling Capital, Aussies place more bets and lose more bets than any country around the world. This recently released report puts the gambling losses of Australians at almost 1144 dollars per resident and makes an accumulative total of 21.5 billion dollars in gambling loses. Since only 30% of Australians play on the pokies, this makes the actual money lost per person closer to 1500 dollars rather than 1144.
The average Australian player lost about 520 dollars this last year on non casino pokies but according to Nick Xenophon, the Independent MP who has stated that if we look deeper, the numbers are much worse that they seem. According to him, the figures are a wakeup call for the politicians and for those who are calling for increase the maximum limit of $1 on the poker machines that have hourly losses that are capped at 120 dollars. He also called for the funding the rehabilitate of problem gamblers and to clamp down on sports betting and online gambling.
He also stated that Aussies should not forget that forty percent of the above stated losses come from the problem gamblers who suffer from an addiction and with 5 up to 10 people being affected by every problem gambler.
